According to the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Australian's make over four million overseas trips a year, whether for business or pleasure.

The vast majority of these trips take place without any major incident.

However, as recent events have so tragically shown us, the world can be a dangerous place and destinations change from being safe to unsafe almost overnight.
