Pawnbrokers

Information about dealing with members of the pawnbroking industry

A pawnbroker is a person who lends money on the security of pawned goods or receives goods under a contract for sale where the seller has a right to buy back the goods.

All pawnbrokers in Western Australia are regulated by the Pawnbrokers and Second-hand Dealers Act 1994 and must be licensed by the Western Australian Police.

For more information about licensing requirements, refer to the Western Australian Police's Pawnbrokers and second-hand dealers exemptions web page.
